The College of Islamic Studies was established as a home for contemporary Islamic studies and to provide a unique platform for faculty and students to contribute to intellectual debates on Islam in a global context.

In May 2007, the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue was officially inaugurated and the formation of the board of directors of the center, as well as a global advisory council of religious scholars in the three monotheistic religions, was organized to assist in planning and communication with the corresponding institutions around the world.
