Music lovers have many concert options in Doha, ranging from classical music to jazz, pop and musicals. There is also a variety of artists and professional and community music ensembles that perform on a regular basis.
Interested in learning how to sing or to play the piano, oud (a string instrument similar to a lute) or other musical instruments? Below is a selection of places to start.
The Library hosts free music performances as part of its public programs. Among others, past performances include "QMA Young Musical Talents in Concert,” in collaboration with the Qatar Music Academy; "Young Winners of the Qatar National Music Competition,” in collaboration with the Qatar National Music Competition; "Michael Pignéguy & The Awakenings Ensemble: Musical Impressions from The Gulf and Beyond"; and "An Evening of Classical and Traditional Russian Music," as part of the Qatar Russia Year of Culture 2018. The longest ongoing series of concerts is the Philharmonic at the Library series, a collaboration with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra that features members of the orchestra performing chamber music of various styles on every third Thursday of each month.
